Artist in Residence: Tamara Payne, Spring 2011. During Tamara's stay at the Youth Dreamer organization she organized and facilitated several workshops with the youth at the site which raised funding for the youth led organization during the house birthday party celebration. One of the youth is shown above displaying her masterpiece! The painted pickets were to be nailed back onto the existing fence at a later date.The house is frequently called "the doll house" because of its vibrant colors. Tamara also facilitated several decorative and functional furniture workshops with the youth. The furniture was later auctioned off as part of fundraiser donations for the Dream House birthday. Below: During this years Friday Open Studio sessions with Tamara Payne the youth at the Dream House had an opportunity to take part in clay workshops in the Hampden area of Baltimore. During these classes the youth had the chance to work with local artist, Amanda Pellerin. Amanda is a local community artist and sculpture here in Baltimore city that frequently works with youth in the Baltimore City Public School System creating clay murals . The youth spent several weeks with Amanda learning how to take make plates that would be used as a fundraiser tool for the Dream House birthday party on May 7, 2011. Ms. Tamara assisted Amanda in teaching the kids how to roll out slabs of low fire clay. The youth used molds and stamps to make impressions in the clay and designed each plate to their individual interests and liking.

Tamara Payne, a MACA Grad, is currently working at the Youth Dreamer organization from fall 2010- Summer 2011. She works along side two high school facilitators and one middle school mentor to plan and facilitate weekly for the community arts workshops at the Youth Dreamers organization. The Youth Dreamer organization is uniquely designed in hiring youth to work with facilitators such as Tamara Payne during project workshops.The Community arts team collaboratively prepares and develops lessons during many Youth Dreamer collaborative art making project sessions. The youth mentors have the tasks of recruiting new candidates for the community arts programming, leading the middle school youth during facilitation as well as a variety of other responsibilities.

During the summer of 2010 Tamara Payne facilitated along side two high school youth mentors as well as a community artist at The Collington Square facility which is an academic and community arts-based after school and summer camp program for youth ages 5-14 living in the Collington Square neighborhood of East Baltimore. Established in 2001, the Club offers a safe space to over 30 elementary and middle school students after school and throughout the summer. Althrough Club youth face a myriad of challenges, The Club works to provide the academic and emotional support youth need to succeed. Their mission is to help shape strong, responsible, respectful, and successful youth through academic and arts programming. Below you will see Club Collington youth and youth facilitators instructing Artscape participants on how to create decorative flowers. They also took time out to participate themselves in the activities at Artscape! At The Club Collington facility the youth took part in a six week community arts workshop where they did a number of various art projects.
