Major community projects before coming to MICA include producing regular video programming at Senior Center Television; running a studio/workshop show space; founding and directing a performance art burlesque troupe; and serving on the board of Iowa City Public Access Television.

So far at MICA, Dunlap has worked in the community of East Baltimore at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, and is currently at two locations in North Baltimore. She facilitates the weekly middle school ceramics club at Hamilton Elementary Middle School and also works at the Hamilton Arts Collective. At the latter, Dunlap co-manages the HACBox (an all-ages community theatre / music / performance art venue), the Hamilton studios (artist collective with eight residents), and consults and creates marketing materials for the Hamilton Gallery.
