Centering Humanity

In the Fall 2010, the six MA in Community Arts (MACA) candidates had the priviledge of working with faculty George Ciscle, who is MICA's Curator-in-Residence. George Ciscle is an accomplished curator who has mounted ground breaking exhibitions, is renowned for his community arts programs and has taught courses in fine arts and humanities for 40 years. For several weeks, George was an essential part of guiding the six candidates to realize the vision for the exhibition, as well as figure out the major components that it takes to put a show together. With George's assistance, together the six women were able to fully realize the successes of curating their own exhibition, as well as discover challenges involved in this collaborative effort. Below are photos which show the six graduate candidates and MACA faculty, along with George engaged in conversation about the opening night of the exhibition in Brown Center. MACA faculty are also shown giving some assistance and feedback in the hanging of the exhibition.
