Social Justice Curriculum:
"R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Ourselves, Our Community"
"RESPECT: Ourselves, Our Community" is a curriculum developed in fall 2009 as a part of Rebecca Yenawine's Master's course about her model for teaching social justice, Art Action For Social Change. The curriculum invites students to unpack how they respect or disrespect each other and their community, and where the roots of that behavior comes from. Through art making and discussion, students demonstrate how they want to be respected by peers and community members, and how they can show respect towards others. To share and promote their ideas with the community, students develop a multi-media performance about this issue, incorporating writing, costume/set design, dance and music.
